Platinum Group Metal Services (PGMS) is a leading refiner and recycler of precious group metals. The growing demand for low carbon and responsibly sourced products is creating growth opportunities in critical metals recycling and secondary refining, and as the world’s largest precious metals recycler, PGMS is a key player in the circular economy.
The Regional Sales Representative will apply broad sales and marketing principles to develop, maintain and increase sales for PGM (platinum group metals) Industrial Products in accordance with site and divisional objectives. The incumbent will initiate frequent customer contact and make independent sales calls to develop and expand customer accounts. The incumbent will collect, analyze and report to the business unit competitive information and market trends and participate in the forecasting, pricing and budgeting processes. They will seek out new opportunities and act as a liaison between the Johnson Matthey business unit and the customer, facilitating working relationships ensuring customer needs are met. They will manage a portfolio of Refining customers in order to maintain, maximise and deliver revenue and metal targets for the business as well as source and secure suitable feeds from new prospects. The role begins with 6 months of customer service account management for training and relationship purposes. Once completed travel, of 50% will be required.
Your responsibilities:
  • Initiate frequent customer contact to develop and expand customer accounts
  • Identify and develop new accounts within sales territory
  • Proactively networks for new customer contacts with intention of building long-lasting business relationships
  • Protects Johnson Matthey securing terms and condition and nondisclosure agreements
  • Review and optimize customer refining and recycling intakes
  • Collects, analyses and reports to the business unit competitive information and market trends and participates in the forecasting, pricing and budgeting processes
  • Acts as a liaison between Johnson Matthey business unit and customers to facilitate and enhance working relationships to ensure customer needs are met
  • Responsible for achievement of planned revenue, account development and implementation for all products and services manufactured by the business unit
  • Submits a variety of written reports (visit reports, weekly reports) to sales/commercial management and to appropriate business unit personnel
  • Develops and implements comprehensive sales plans for the territory in concert with the sales marketing organization
  • Attends trade/technical shows and gives company presentations to customers
  • Performs special assignments as required
Requirements for the role:
  • B.S. Degree with a minimum of 1+ year of sales experience OR 3+ years of manufacturing/industrial sales experience needed.
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Good understanding of chemical processes and sound manufacturing practices as related to business unit product lines and potential products
